About the Program

Medieval and Renaissance Studies is comprised of the faculty in various disciplines across campus whose research and teaching falls within the period from Late Antiquity to the Early Modern era, covering an expansive geographical range.

An Interdisciplinary Approach

The strength of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Dartmouth lies in our interdisciplinarity, with faculty housed in wide ranging departments across the Humanities and Social Sciences. We offer students a way to modify a major with Medieval and Renaissance studies, allowing them to add interdisciplinary breadth within their course of study.  We sponsor the Medieval Seminar, which gathers interested faculty twice a term to share work in progress. And we sponsor further colloquia and conferences aimed at our intellectual community. We warmly welcome faculty and other scholars from the area who wish to participate.
